I just heard that Robert Jordan died. So sad. To tell the truth, I'd stopped reading his books, but it's still so sad, especially since he never got to finish up his stories... Poor guy. Hope you're in a better place, and I'll always have an affectionate soft spot for you and your neverending books with so many characters and diverging plotlines that I couldn't really tell what was going on by the end. That sounds negative, but it's not.

On knitting news, I'm seaming up my Leaf ties cardigan, though I tried it on with one sleeve done and now I'm alarmed because it seems to be a little bit loose around the chest (not the breasts, the bit above that around where your ribs start, I don't know what it's called). I hope that it evens out once I've done the rest of the seaming. I'll be a little put out if it turns out not to fit very well. Then again, I'm stubborn so I'll probably wear it anyway, even if it doesn't fit.

I'm merrily chugging away at the Cleo halter top. Wasn't sure about how well the gauge was working in the substituted yarn, but now it seems to be okay. Or at the least, it looks like I'll be able to get it over my head, and that's a good start... I love the yarn so much, that it probably won't even matter if I can't wear it... I'll be content just to look at it and touch it...

Avoidance...

I'm avoiding my law essay. Or I would be if it existed yet. That's kind of the point.

I'm also avoiding work. They just called and asked if I could close, and I told them exactly where they could put their close (well, actually I politely declined, but the feeling was there).

I'm avoiding lunch, because I can subsist on cups of tea indefinitely. At least while there's a computer there to distract me...

I have however been playing with Ravelry. It's been nearly a month since I got my invite, and I've finally got the photos of most things (well, most things worth taking a photo of, though come to think of it I must take a photo of the Contracts sock) up there. It's taken a while due to general procrastination and technological incompetance, but today I woke up feeling crappy and decided to distract myself with something constructive.

I took my very first photo of myself: me in my lovely rainbow beanie. It took me a couple of goes before you could actually see the hat (the first few tries were mainly of my nose and glasses), but in the end the one I got turned out okay. Behold, me in my shiny hat:

In the first one, I looked far, far too much like my younger brother. Thankfully not so much in this one.

First real post... hurrah!

Wow. It is very, very, windy outside right now. No rain yet, though I suspect it'll come soon enough...

Anyway, knitting stuff:

Nearly, nearly finished my jaunty red Cropped Cardigan with Leaf Ties (http://knitty.com/ISSUEspring07/PATTleaf.html). Just have to sew the seams and finish doing the i-cord around the neckline (nearly done with the latter). I debated a little with myself about how slavishly to follow the directions, and then decided to go with the cooking approach. The first time that I cook a recipe, I follow it absolutely to the letter. It's only the times that follow that I modify it, warp it, defile it and do all those other things. So, the instructions for this pattern were adhered to quite devotedly. Figured it was best since there were a few firsts for me in this one. I did take a photo of this one (for Ravelry type purposes), but it turned out suckfully because photography is not one of my strong points ("what is this flash you speak of???..."), so I won't bother with it here.

Also, I'm slogging away at my ugly cabled jumper. I love it already, even though it isn't finished yet. I just want to start applying the euphemisms that people always apply to ugly things (ie. it's a jumper that has a lot of character, etc). I was turbo-proud of how the cable turned out. I couldn't stop showing it to poor Chris, even though it's complete and utter brilliance was totally lost on him. Behold, cable of festy-coloured beauty:

Well, that's the first time I've ever posted a photo on a blog. So if you can see the shiny (figuratively speaking) cable, do a little dance of victory for me. I know it's not a big deal, but my technological incompetance really doesn't stop at cameras. In fact, it pretty much extends to anything that either requires batteries or needs to be plugged into the wall. Except for my glue-gun. I can work that.

Sigh. I should probably be either reading cases or fiddling with wedding invitations...

Well, here I am. I figured that since not everyone on my Livejournal wants to hear me rant and rave about knitting things related to it, I'd start another blog just devoted to this topic. Heaven knows it eats enough of my mental space to warrant it. And it didn't make much sense to list my other blog on Ravelry since there wasn't much knitting stuff in it (because it was being tempered for all the non-knitting type people who read it). So, problem solved.
I give you, Anna's knitting blog: Impostination
(yes, I was too lazy to think of a newer/more original username. So there)
